Miyagi vs. Kreese Who Wins in the Street?

It's been 24 years since these two squared off on screen in Karate Kid II where Cobra Kai Instructor John Kreese was left with bloody knuckles and broken dreams. On screen the ill-mannered Kreese was toyed with by the fly-catching, chopstick wielding Kesuke Miyagi. But if these two characters were to face off in the street, who would really win?

For our answer, let's go to the Tale of the Tape:

Age: John Kreese is 35, Miyagi is 52, the Edge goes to Kreese.

Occupation: Kreese is a karate instructor who trains bullies and future date rapists, Miyagi fixes toilets, bikes and trims little trees. Edge goes to Kreese.

Military Background: Kreese was Special forces in Vietnam, Miyagi was infantry in Vietnam. Edge goes to Kreese.

Real world experience: Kreese flushed rat holes in Vietnam, VC ear necklaces and kicks puppies in his pare time. Miyagi killed many Germans and kicked fisherman ass. Edge goes to Kreese.

Style: Kreese teaches American Karate, Miyagi Gojo-ryu Karate. Edge, Miyagi.

Training: Kreese was trained by some ill mannered karate instructors and the US Government. Miyagi, his dad. Edge, Kreese.

It's a cruel, cruel summer for Miyagi-san with a 5 to 1 ass whopping loss to the evil dojo master! In the real world, John Kreese would have swept the leg and beat his drum technique to death. In the end, the aging Miyagi was no much to the Spec Ops sociopath. Sorry Daniel-san, you're really going to need that body bag.

i see the point here on some grounds but how do we know that miyagi didn't know something else to counter or something else we didnt know about him i think it could have gone both ways depending on who got the edge first or who was smarter. just becasue one has a killer back ground doen't always mean they are smarter. like the sayine goes the stronger doen't always mean smarter just my thought on the subject

based on what was said the edge would go to krees but how do we know how much miyagi really knew he could have some up with some stuff that kreese didn't know about. not much other than what was said up top how much miyagi really knew.he was a war vet too and he had some age on him but stronger don't always mean smarter my master is 60 years old im 35 and i got age and power on him but he is smarter and he kicks my ass all the time and im a military vet too

Uh, Miyagi was a World War II vet. Your system owes a little something to those tough bastards from WWII if I'm not mistaken.

Not to mention that you would not want to mess with someone trained in karate by descendants of the Miyagi family.

Hi Damian

On paper sure you are correct. But the crazier more aggressive person DOESNT ALWAYS win. It clouds judgement and all the rest. I am a huge fan of the principles of your system and have been teaching very similar things to my own students over the last decade. It is however VERY dangerous to discredit all traditional styles if one doesnt know how they actually train behind closed doors. It will set someone with only online self-defence experience up for a huge ass-beating. True Miyagi should've been less Mother Teresa and more Bonnie and Clyde but I will not go strolling into his house determined to beat the crap out of him. That's my opinion. You NEVER know who you are going to face. The tale of the tape is a fantasy created by these sports idiots to entertain the fans. It creates a false sense of confidence in the fighter with the better credentials. Knowing what you know, you dont give a stuff of who it is, you try get the job done quickly and get the hell out of there. My opinion. Always fun to read your stuff. Regards. C

Sure, Miyagi COULD win. But if set up like Deadliest Warrior, where they simulate 5,000 battles, Kreese would likely win at least 85-90 percent of them.

Look at it this way (I can't believe I'm having this conversation.) Kreese trains EVERY DAY. Miyagi doesn't even do his own house work. He hasn't painted the fence or his house. His deck needed to be refinished and he hasn't washed a car in forever.
All I know is that he gets drunk and tinkers around an apartment building. Sure he occasionally does some kata and we all know that's about as useful as dancing.
Miyagi is not in fighting shape, Kreese is pratically in his prime.Miyagi's last fight was 30 years ago. Kreese pummels Miyagi fellas.

Lighten up Francis, it's all in good fun.

Incidentally, Superman would crush Spiderman.

I like it, but i like Miyagi's style rather than Kreese's, if they were the same age... they would be harder to compare :)
